Oktoberfest & Pig Roast

Bring the family for the annual Oktoberfest & Pig Roast celebration October 4-5 at Lynfred’s Winery in Roselle, and stay at the nearby and affordable Elk Grove Chicago Hotel

Enjoy two days of German sing-along’s, grape spitting, grape stomping and cork tossing! You can have the roasted pig as a sandwich or a full meal, with German potato salad and all the fixings. There will also be grilled bratwurst, chili and Lynfred’s famous roasted corn. All of those delights will be paired with Lynfred’s signature wines. Got a sweet tooth? Try a taffy apple, apple strudel or German chocolate cake.

Enjoy German music, featuring the Internationals accordion sing-along, the Happy Wanderers German Band, and Deutschmeisters German Oompah Band. There will be kid versions of the cork tossing etc., as well as a menu of pulled pork, corn on the cob, hot dogs, German pickles, soft pretzels and much more. It is recommended that children attend afternoon sessions only. Free balloons!

For adults and children, there will be prizes for costumes in the ‘Best Lederhosen’ and ‘Lucy Stomping Grapes’ divisions.

Fred and Lynn Koehler were considered pioneers in Illinois’ burgeoning wine industry. Lynfred’s Winery won its first double gold medal in 1983, for chardonnay. The winery has a beautiful oaken tasting room and gift shop, filled with stained glass windows. The winery is now known for its cabernet-shiraz, as well as its white wines.

Lynfred’s Winery is located at 15 South Roselle Road in, surprise, Roselle. For more information, call (630) 529-9463.
