illustration athletic complex 300x150 Elk Grove ParksThe Jack A Claes Pavilion is a community center which is part of the Elk Grove Park District and offers fun and exciting activities for the whole family.  The Pavilion includes an art center where visitors can dabble in arts and crafts as well as visit a painting studio.  There are dance studios, the Garden Terrace Banquets, a large indoor playground, an aquatic center which features an indoor and outdoor pool, there is also a fitness center complete with racquetball courts, and there is the 1920s inspired carousel as the Pavilion’s center piece.

Community Athletic Fields

If you’re looking for a bit of a sporty vacation while visiting Elk Grove and the Chicago area, or if you just want a place to take the kids so they can run around and tire themselves out, there is the Community Athletic Fields of CAF which features 23 acres of playing fields.

CAF is open year round and features four baseball diamonds, four softball diamonds, 2 football fields for football games, and 3 football fields for practice.

Elk Grove Historical Museum

Claes Pavilion, the Elk Grove Park District is home to the Elk Grove Historical Museum which gives visitors a glimpse of what life was like for the early settlers of the Chicago area, the pioneers who first came to the area in the mid 19th century.  The Historical Museum is open year-round and provides tours, exhibits, and educational programs.

In April, the  Elk Grove Historical Museum will host the History Games Con.  This event features various games with historical themes.  Additionally, participants who bring their own games to be included in the History Games Con will have the chance to win exciting raffles prizes.
