Taste of Polonia
This year, there is no better way to spend your Labor Day weekend than sampling delicious, and authentic, Polish food while taking in some great live music at the 2013 Taste of Polonia in Chicago. From August 30th until September 2nd, Chicago’s Copernicus Center will be hosting five stages dedicated to live music, the creation of some delicious and authentic Polish food, as well as a number of great local Chicago merchants.
Copernicus Center Chicago: Polka Bands, Vinyl Highway Band
This year’s Taste of Polonia festival is gearing up to be one of the largest and most exciting one in the event’s history. For the 2013 Taste of Polonia festival, there will be five stages set up at Copernicus Center which will feature some of the best Polish bands from around the world. There will be Polka bands, folk dancing, specialty children’s entertainment, live DJs, and special performances by some local talent including The Vinyl Highway Band.
While you take in all of the exciting live performances that will be part of Taste of Polonia 2013, visitors to Copernicus Center will also be able to enjoy some delicious and authentic Polish food. There will be polska kielbasa, pierogi, potato pancakes, and so much more.
This year, the Taste of Polonia Festival will take place on Friday August 30th from 5PM-11PM. On Saturday August 31st, and Sunday September 1st, Copernicus Center will welcome festival goers from 12PM-11PM. The final day of the 2013 Taste of Polonia Festival will be Monday September 2nd from 12PM until 10PM.
Polish Chicago – Celebrating All Things Polish
The Taste of Polonia Festival has been celebrating all things Polish in Chicago each Labor Day weekend since 1979. Each year, people come from the world over to experience Chicago’s Taste of Polonia. This uniquely Polish festival is Chicago’s largest ethnic festival and attracts as many as 40-60 thousand attendees each year!
In previous years, the popularity of Chicago’s Taste of Polonia Festival has attracted some pretty important guests. In years gone by, President George H.W. Bush attended and hosted the Taste of Polonia. In the year 2000, Vice-President Dick Cheney, Tipper Gore, and Hadassah Lieberman attended the Taste of Polonia. In 2011, Newt Gingrich and his wife, Callista, stopped at the Taste of Polonia Festival for the debut screening of their documentary, 9 Days That Changed the World.
