Carlos Vives is a thirteen Latin Grammy Award winning singer, composer and actor from Columbia. He first became known as an actor in TV shows and telenovelas, including “Little Giants” and “Yours is My Heart.” In 1986 he starred in the film “Gallito Ramirez,” and recorded his first album, “Por Fuera y Por Dentro.”
In 1991, Carlos Vives got his big break, starring in the TV fantasy telenovela “Escalona,” playing and singing the part of legendary Latin composer Rafael Escalona. His music fusion of styles, backed by the Latin band La Provincia, brought him the attention of a worldwide audience. His 2002 album, “DeJame Entrar,” won him his first Grammy Award for Best Traditional Latin Tropical Album. His next few albums all hit the Billboard Latin Music charts at #1. Currently, Carlos Vives is a judge on the Columbian version of “The Voice,” and he has recorded some new songs with Shakira.
